According to the recent reports from the media front, the Rajasthan Royals franchise has asked for damages worth Rs 1.2 billion from India's cricket board.
An official from the Rajasthan Royals has told media that it has given a written notice to the BCCI asking for the damages.
It said, “The franchise said that the BCCI's action of terminating the franchise has affected their image and reputation.”
The damages are also for legal costs that the franchise has had to bear. After the BCCI terminated its contract, the franchise subsequently got relief from an arbitrator who allowed it to participate in the player's auction last month. The Bombay High Court upheld the arbitrator's decision after the BCCI appealed.
The Rajasthan Royals demand is part of the arbitration process which is not yet complete. Earlier the franchise submitted a bank guarantee to the BCCI ($2.83 million for the contract and $18 million for the players) before being allowed to take part in the auction.
