Steve Rixon is Australia's new fielding coach

According to the fresh reports from the Australian Cricket World, former Test wicketkeeper Steve Rixon will be Australia's new fielding coach for the next tours of Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rixon will takeover long-time fielding coach Mike Young, who is now working with new South Africa coach Gary Kirsten.

Further, Rixon played 13 Tests and is a former coach of the New Zealand side.

While talking to media, Cricket Australia acting chief executive Michael Brown said on the CA website said, “We are very excited Steve is joining our staff as a fielding coach.”

He further said, “His experience as a player and successful coach at both domestic and international level will be invaluable for our group as we prepare for tough tours to Sri Lanka and South Africa.”


Rixon, 57, said he was thrilled.

He said, “Fielding skills play such an important role in the modern game and often proves the difference between winning and losing.”

"The Australian team has long been known as one of the best fielding sides in world cricket, and my job will not only be to maintain the good work done before but be about setting the benchmark for opposition sides."
