India
Cricket fever, which has swept through the entire nation like a wild bushfire, went up a few notches on Saturday as Team India landed in Chandigarh.

Fans thronged the airport and Taj Hotel to catch a glimpse of their favourite cricketing stars. It was sheer madness all around and cops had a tough time trying to control the expectant crowd.

Team India led by skipper M S Dhoni landed at Chandigarh airport around 12.10 pm. When the players emerged out of the airport

gate and were heading for the bus, fans waiting for them literally started running towards them and security personnel had to cordon the players to protect them from crowd.

''I have been standing outside since early morning after I came to know about the arrival of Team India last night. I preferred coming to the airport as the roads in Sector 17 have been barricaded by cops and it would have been very difficult to see the players,'' said Chandan Gulati, a resident of Sector 15.

The atmosphere outside Taj Hotel was electrifying as a large number of fans queued up to witness Team India players alight from their team bus. Not just youngsters, even grown-ups were excited about the players.

Fans of varying age groups were patiently positioned outside the hotel to land a photograph or even an autograph of their cherished players, however, that was not to be as the ever-vigilant security deployed at the hotel made fans stand far away from the hotel premises.
