According to the fresh reports from the IPL 2011 season, Kochi Tuskers Kerala team beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 17 runs in a very interesting match here Played at Nehru Stadium, Kochi, 5 May 2011 - day/night (20-over match).

Captain Mahela Jayawardene led from the front, making a super 50 runs to help Kochi Tuskers Kerala post a challenging 156 for five against Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League match here on Thursday.

The captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala came up with a 41-ball 55 with the help of two fours and as many sixes, and Australian Brad Hodge (34) hitting an unbeaten 35 off just 19 deliveries in the death overs to guide the home side to a competitive total.

Hodge hit three fours and two sixes to help Kochi cross 15-—run mark after being put into bat here at the Nehru Stadium.Jayawardene also added 50 runs along with opener Michael Klinger (29) for the third wicket to provide the much-needed impetus to Kochi innings.

For the Knight Riders, Jaidev Unadkat finished with two for 25, while Rajat Bhatia (1/22) and Yusuf Pathan (1/16) chipped in with a wicket each.

While talking to media, captain of KKR, Gautam Gambhir said, "I have always said that momentum is very important. When you have that momentum, you have to keep continuing to play well. It was a good overall performance. The batsmen scored 170 and the bowlers backed it up. I think it was good professional effort."
