The Indian World Cup cricket team has been announced today and with very few changes. The selection committee, led by chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth, took just an hour to announce the name of final 15-member Indian team for the upcoming World Cup 2011.
In the meantime, World Cup will be started from February 19 to April 2 in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
While talking to media, the chairman said, “This is the best balanced team that we can find. This team has a very strong batting line-up and good spinners.”
MS Dohni will be the Captain of the Indian team and the batting line-up will led by the blasting opener Sehwag and Gambhir and a set of explosive stroke-players like Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan and the Captain Dohni.
Further, the bowling department will headed by Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra and Munaf Patel while both R Ashwin and Piyush Chawla came in as spinners to help Harbhajan Singh. That effectively sealed pacer Sreesanth's fate.
The team: MS Dhoni (Captain), V Sehwag (Vice-captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, R Ashwin, Piyush Chawla.
