Fact 1


India’s master blaster Sachin Tendulkar was the first batsman to be dismissed via third umpire during the World Cup 1992.

Fact 2

The one-day matches were reduced from 60 overs to 50 overs, during the 1987 World Cup matches mainly due to shorter daylight hours in the region.

Fact 3

South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs smashed six sixes in an over, the first time ever in an ODI and the first ever in the World Cup match against the Netherlands during a group league match in 2003.

Fact 4

Arjuna Ranatunga, the captain of Sri Lanka team that lifted the world cup in 1996, played around 93 tests smashing 5105 runs and 269 ODIs and scoring 7456 runs before being selected as Member of Parliament.
