V. Sehwag wants to bat for complete 50 overs

As per the media reports, hard-hitting Indian opener Virender Sehwag on Friday told media that he would like to bat for the complete innings.

The batsman, who opens the innings with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, is well-known for giving flying starts with his hard and clean hitting and has so far scored 7,380 runs in 228 one-dayers with 13 centuries.

While talking to media, Sehwag said, “I think I have never played 50 overs in one-day cricket. The maximum I have played is 43 or 44 overs.”

According to him, “But this time, I will try to bat 50 overs and give a good start to the team. I have been unsuccessfully trying this for the past 10 years, but the effort is still on.”

Sehwag said he was not feeling any pressure as his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and coach Gary Kirsten had always backed him to play his natural game.

"The coach and captain just allow me to bat the way I bat. So, they are not putting any pressure on me. They have said 'you just go and play your natural game'," said Sehwag.

He said, “My role is to go out there and enjoy myself and give a good start to the team. If I score 20 runs in 10 balls or 100 in 70 or 80 balls, I am happy with that. The coach and captain just allow me to bat the way I bat. So, they are not putting any pressure on me. They have said 'you just go and play your natural game.”

The player missed the one-day series in South Africa because of shoulder injury.

India are in Group B with South Africa, England, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands, with the top four sides making it to the quarter-finals.

England names Tremlett for World Cup squard

 

The latest media report from sports, Chris Tremlett, has recovered from a side strain and will ready to join the England's World Cup squad to provide bowling support.

The selectors from the England has told media today, Surrey pace bowler Chris Tremlett will be flying to Bangladesh as a traveling reserve with England’s World Cup squad on Saturday February 12.

Tremlett, who is now recovered from a side strain, will be on standby to be added to the 15-man squad in the event that the selectors need to apply to the Event Technical Committee to replace an injured player.

While talking to media, the National selector Geoff Miller said:, “Whilst the injured bowlers in the 15-man squad are all progressing well, the selectors have decided it would be prudent to have an additional player on hand who is acclimatised in case we need to apply to the Event Technical Committee for a replacement due to injury.”

Sreesanth named as a replacement for Injured Praveen Kumar

A dream come true like situation has come to the way to Indian bowler S Sreesanth. Just when it looked that the player would not be able to play in this World Cup, the player was named after Indian bowler Praveen Kumar has been ruled out due to the elbow injury.

While talking to media, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said, “The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that Praveen Kumar can be replaced in the squad by Sreesanth.”

On the other hand, S Sreesanth said on twitter, “I will keep giving my very best to the game no matter how small my chances are... I truly believe in God.”

Further, the player writes on Twitter, “Honestly, I was not hoping to play in this World cup. In fact, for the last few days I have been coming to NCA to get ready for the upcoming domestic matches. This news came in as a big surprise. I am fully fit and also bowling well. I hope to continue the same form in the World Cup.”

According to him, “I know everyone talks about that catch (to dismiss the last Pakistan batsman in the edge-of-the-seat final). But here I hope to give my best with the ball and will certainly want that we go all the way to Mumbai and end the World Cup drought.”

Praveen Kumar out of World Cup, left for England

As per the latest news from the media sources, in a huge blow to Team India just before the start of the 2011 World Cup, India's pace bowler Praveen Kumar has been hit with a elbow injury and may fly to England for treatment.

The player, who sustained the injury during the recent tour to South Africa, was recuperating at the National Cricket Academy. On the other hand, the injury has forced and this poses a serious question on his availability for the World Cup.

In the meantime, officials from the Sports Front told media, the player’s participation will only be clear after further medical advice.

If he is unable to recover in time, India will have to pick a bowler from among those named in the squad of 30 to replace him and S Sreesanth will most likely get the nod.
