England beat Australia by 16 runs


According to the fresh news from the World of Cricket, England out plays Australia by 16 runs to grab the women's quadrangular Twenty20 series at the Rose Bowl on Monday. Lydia Greenway made 48 out of England's 132 for nine.

Although Australia's Alex Blackwell and Lisa Sthalekar played superbly and made a partnership of 72 for the fifth wicket, the visitors were never up with the required run-rate and finished on 116 for eight.

While talking to media, England captain Charlotte Edwards said: "It's been a great day, I'm really proud of the team, we've all worked hard for this. We have a great mix of players in the squad at the moment, some of the youngsters are really stepping up to the mark and everyone has contributed to the success."

Further, Edwards said, “We won't be resting on our laurels as we move into the 50-over series, but we will take this momentum with us.”

Earlier Monday, India beat New Zealand by three wickets in the playoff for third place at Aldershot.
